World鈥檚 largest video game hackathon kicks off today at 黑料吃瓜网曝一区二区
Hundreds of game creators from across the country are descending on 黑料吃瓜网曝一区二区鈥檚 New Westminster Campus today to take part in the world鈥檚 biggest video game hackathon.
During the three-day event, programmers, 2D and 3D artists, music and sound designers and other game creators of all skills levels will team up to create unique, playable video games.
brings together tens of thousands of game fanatics at events across 100 countries. This is the first time Douglas has hosted the event, and it is anticipated that the College will see close to 200 participants at its New Westminster Campus for the this weekend.
鈥淲e鈥檙e thrilled to host an event like Global Game Jam at our campus, and to highlight the work of our faculty and students in game design, gamification, virtual reality and music technology,鈥 said Dr. Brian Chapell, Dean of Science and Technology. 鈥淲ith our Computing Science 鈥 Game Development program now an Authorized Academic Partner for Unreal Engine, our graduates will be major contributors to the game development industry locally and beyond.鈥
Alongside industry professionals and avid game makers across Canada and around the world, many Douglas students will be flexing their game design skills alongside others this weekend.
鈥淏y participating in this event, our Game Development students will have an opportunity to network with industry professionals and collaborate with game makers from companies and institutions in the region,鈥 said Dr. Shahriar Khosravi, Computing Science instructor. 鈥淭hey鈥檒l continue to strengthen their technical and interpersonal skills, all while having fun creating games.鈥
